Blackstone and Hilton Worldwide recently broke ground on the Hilton Grand Islander, a 418-unit vacation ownership tower within the iconic Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. This 37-floor tower is Blackstone’s first ground-up timeshare development in partnership with portfolio company Hilton Worldwide. The project is expected to create more than a thousand new jobs as well as millions of dollars in tax revenue for the state of Hawaii. The Grand Islander is scheduled to open in 2017 and will feature views of the Pacific Ocean and access to the sprawling 22-acre Hilton resort.
The traditional Hawaiian blessing and ceremony was attended by Tyler Henritze, Senior Managing Director at Blackstone; Mark Wang, Executive Vice President, Global Sales and President, Hilton Grand Vacations for Hilton Worldwide; Jerry Gibson, Area Vice President for Hilton Hawaii; Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell, and other local dignitaries.
