Jon Koplovitz is a Senior Managing Director in Blackstone Advisory Partners LP and is based in New York.

Since joining Blackstone in 1996, Mr. Koplovitz has been involved in several notable transactions, including representing the bondholders on the restructuring of Skeie Drilling; the restructuring of Sea Dragon; the restructuring of Northern Rock; China Development Bank’s strategic minority investment in Barclays; Reuters’ dual listed company merger with Thomson; the sale of Procter & Gamble’s European Tissue business to SCA; the sale of WellChoice to WellPoint; Blackstone’s acquisition of HealthMarkets; the sale of Student Resources to UnitedHealth; the merger of Union Central and Ameritas Acacia; the sale of Lafayette Life to Western & Southern Financial Group; Alliance Capital Management’s purchase of Sanford C. Bernstein; the sale of LG&E Energy to PowerGen; the mutual fund joint venture between Bear Stearns and Dreyfus; the demutualizations / conversions of Prudential Financial, Principal Financial Group, Premera Blue Cross / Blue Shield, MetLife, and John Hancock; the sale of Provident Mutual to Nationwide Financial Group; Sony’s purchase of a minority stake in General Instrument; Central Parking’s acquisition of Allright Parking; Aquila’s common stock exchange offer with Utilicorp United; and the reorganization of Big Rivers Electric.

Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Koplovitz worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at Wolfensohn & Company and the Corporate Finance department at Bear Stearns.

Mr. Koplovitz received a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated magna cum laude, and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar.
