Peter Cohen is a Senior Managing Director in Blackstone Advisory Partners where he is the Global Head of the Media and Entertainment Group.
Recently, Mr. Cohen led the team advising on the $2.15 billion sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers, which broke records for the sale of a sports franchise. He also advised Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia on its recent sale of a stake in the company to J.C. Penney, Lee Enterprises on its $1.0 billion restructuring, and The New Republic on its sale to Chris Hughes, a founder of Facebook.
Prior to joining Blackstone, Mr. Cohen was a Managing Director in the Media Investment Banking group at J.P. Morgan. Over his career, Mr. Cohen has advised and handled financing for clients across all media sectors, including Time Warner, Liberty Media, News Corp., Cox Enterprises, MGM Studios, Tribune, Dow Jones, Discovery Communications, and Advance / Newhouse.
While at J.P. Morgan, Mr. Cohen participated in many noteworthy M&A and financing transactions in the media sector. These included advising Forbes Media on the sale of a stake in the company to Elevation Partners, Advance / Newhouse on restructuring its investment in Discovery Communications, Tribune on the sale of the Chicago Cubs, Dow Jones on its acquisition of Marketwatch.com, American Media on its debt for equity restructuring, and Adify on its sale to Cox Enterprises, among others.
Mr. Cohen received a B.A. with Distinction in History from the University of Rochester and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
