Michael Schlappig is a Vice President in the Restructuring & Reorganization group.
Since joining Blackstone, Mr. Schlappig has been involved in various assignments advising companies and creditors, including the Ad Hoc Group of Secured LightSquared LP Lenders, Clearwire, TerreStar Networks and TerreStar Corporation. Mr. Schlappig was also part of the team which advised Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia on its sale of a minority equity interest to J.C. Penney.
Before joining Blackstone in 2010, Mr. Schlappig was an Associate at Lazard, where he executed multiple M&A transactions across a range of industries.
Mr. Schlappig received a BA from Cornell University where he earned a major in Economics and a minor in French Area Studies. He also received an MBA from Columbia Business School with a concentration in Finance and Economics, where he graduated with honors.
