Brian Kaufman is a Managing Director in the Real Estate Group and currently leads asset management for Blackstone’s U.S. hospitality and student housing portfolios, including BRE Hotels & Resorts, Extended Stay America, Great Wolf Resorts, G6 Hospitality and American Campus Communities.

Before joining Blackstone in 2019, Mr. Kaufman was the Managing Partner of The Kaufman Companies, a privately held hospitality investment, development and asset management group in the U.S. and Europe. He previously worked at Highgate Capital Investment as a Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and at Goldman Sachs & Co in the Merchant Banking Division. He began his career at Lehman Brothers in the Global Real Estate Group. 

Mr. Kaufman received a BS from Cornell University in 2008. He currently serves on Dean’s Advisory Board at the Cornell Nolan School, SC Johnson College of Business as well as the Advisory Board of the Nolan Center for Real Estate and Finance. He has been recognized for his social impact and philanthropic efforts and, in 2022, received the Peter G. Peterson Award. Mr. Kaufman is also a member of The Council on Foreign Relations.
