In observation of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Blackstone’s Diverse Professionals Network (DPN) hosted a fireside chat with Chief Financial Officer Michael Chae and Chief Administrative Officer Vik Sawhney, moderated by Managing Director Sarita Jairath.
Chae and Sawhney shared their career paths, how Blackstone’s culture has shaped their professional experiences, and their advice for new joiners to the firm. They also discussed how Blackstone continues to support its employees through Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts including the DPN and other affinity groups. The firm’s inclusive culture has been an integral part of Chae and Sawhney’s Blackstone journey.
“Blackstone’s welcoming community has made me feel more self-assured and self-confident as an Asian-American,” Sawhney said. “With our DEI programs, we hope to continue this culture.”
“From my earliest days at the firm 25 years ago, Blackstone has been extraordinarily friendly and open to people of all backgrounds and has supported employees based on their integrity and personal contributions,” Chae said. “As the firm grows its global presence, we have to work harder to ensure that we retain and institutionalize that special culture, especially with our new joiners.”
