A.J. Murphy is the Chief Operating Officer of Blackstone Private Equity, based in New York.

Before joining Blackstone, Mrs. Murphy served as Head of Markets at Standard Industries. Prior to that, she was a partner at Silver Lake Technologies. Mrs. Murphy spent the first 20 years of her career in banking, largely on the leveraged finance and high yield capital markets side. She worked at Bankers Trust/DB, JP Morgan, was a partner at Goldman Sachs and was most recently the Global Head of Capital Markets for Bank of America.

Mrs. Murphy graduated from Middlebury College where she earned a B.A. as a joint major in Political Science and English Literature, and where she currently serves as a Trustee. She is also a board member for the Posse Foundation.
